Severe Weather

Texas is prone to many natural hazards that threaten the state and our region, such as wildfires – tornadoes – floods – hurricanes – hazardous chemical incidents. It is everyone’s responsibility to be prepared for emergencies, particularly for natural disasters.

Turn around. Don’t drown.
During severe weather, roads may become dangerous before the information is posted on this page. Always use caution when traveling in severe weather. When you come to a flooded road, do not attempt to cross it!

Skywarn Severe Weather Training. The Austin-San Antonio National Weather Service (NWS) Office provides severe weather training throughout the year. After training is complete, you will be an official weather spotter for NWS.
