CAMP HEIGHTS 2016 - SUMMER DAY CAMP
Have your children spend the summer with the Parks & Recreation staff filled with fun activities including indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, board and card games, field trips and much more.

Registration:
 Saturday, May 7, 2016 at noon - until full
           (in person at the Recreation Center, 307 Miller's Crossing or online by clicking on the 
            Activity # next to the session).

Each child's weekly session payment is required before that child can be placed on the roster for that session(s).

Min/Max: 10/24 per session week

Fee: $75.00 Non-Resident per weekly session per camper
         $70.00 Resident per weekly session per camper

If the session is full, a waiting list is available at the Recreation Center. You can call at 254.953.5657 or come in person 307 Miller's Crossing to be placed on the waiting list.

Weekly schedule and themes will be emailed to registered participants before each session. We look forward to a fun-filled and safe summer with your camper.

MEMORIAL PARADE AND CEREMONY 2016

Date: Saturday, May 28, 2016

Parade: 9:00 am
Parade Route: On FM 2410/Knight's Way from Wildewood to Miller's Crossing (Harker Heights City Hall).

Businesses, groups, and organizations can enter to be in the parade (no entry fee required). The deadline for parade entries is Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

Veterans' Monument in front of Harker Heights City Hall, 305 Miller's Crossing

In case of rain, the parade will still continue as long as it is not a storm and the ceremony will move indoors to the Harker Heights Recreation Center, 307 Miller’s Crossing.

The City of Harker Heights invites the whole family to come out for the Harker Heights 2016 Memorial Parade and Ceremony. With approval of the Texas Department of Transportation, FM 2410/Knight’s Way from Verna Lee to Walgreen’s will be closed from 8:45 am – 10:45 am on Saturday, May 28, 2016 for the parade. As soon as the parade traffic clears, FM 2410/Knight’s Way will reopen. The section of FM 2410 from Verna Lee and Wildewood will be closed at 7:45 am for the parade staging.

The ceremony will feature a traditional wreath laying to honor those who gave their lives. Major General John C. Thomson III, Commanding General for 1st Cavalry Division and the City of Harker Heights’ Mayor Rob Robinson will address the public at the ceremony.

The Memorial Parade and Ceremony is co-sponsored by the City of Harker Heights and the Harker Heights Veterans’ Council which consists of organization representatives from the American Legion, American Military Retirees Association, Military Order of the Purple Hearts, Military Officers Association of America, Disabled American Veterans, Korean War and Korea Service Veterans, The Enlisted Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, 40/8 Bell County, Women’s Army Corps Veterans’ Association, Bring Everyone in the Zone, Inc., Friends of the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Knights of Columbus, Veterans Helping Veterans, as well as local government and military officials.  Each year the City and the Veterans’ Council plan the Memorial Parade and Ceremony as well as the Veteran’s Ceremony for the public.
