The Harker Heights, Texas Police Department is proud to serve a dynamic and growing community of over 20,000 residents in Central Texas. We are located in Bell County immediately adjacent to Fort Hood, the largest military installation in the free world. This huge Fort is home to the mighty 4th Infantry and 1st Cavalry Divisions which have both played keys roles in American military history, most recently in Iraq. Community values, patriotic sentiment and military culture run deep here as a majority of our citizens have direct ties to the United States Army and Fort Hood. Our city is part of a greater metropolitan area of approximately 150,000 people and is characterized by outstanding schools, a rapidly growing commercial area and some of the most desirable residential neighborhoods in the area. The City of Harker Heights first incorporated in 1964. What at first was a few residences and a bar district has grown into the vital city that draws many to choose to live, work and shop here.

The Police Department consists of a diverse group of outstanding individuals who work consistently to provide policing services to this remarkable community. The unique policing environment present in Harker Heights has developed a team of professionals who are capable of dealing with the most difficult of policing problems while maintaining a professional and respectful interaction with people. As you explore this site and discover the capabilities of each separate Department function, I hope you will find the information useful and you will also begin to see why I am proud to serve with the men and women of the Harker Heights Police Department.
