Oncor ED Transmission Line Rebuild
Oncor ED will be undertaking a electric transmission line rebuild in Harker Heights-Killeen starting the first part of March 2013. The work involves replacing wooden H- frame structures with single pole metal structures. The age of the existing wooden H-frames make it necessary for reliability, safety and electric load increase factors. The first portion will involve vegetation management clearing some portions of the transmission ROW that will begin within the next week. I have attached an aerial map of the direction/location of the work. The Harker Heights substation is on Roy Reynolds and work will be from this point to the west to the Taft Street substation in Killeen which is north of Veterans Memorial, approximate length is 2.1 miles.
Property owners impacted will be personally notified if contact is possible otherwise information will be left at the properties. The information will include Oncor ED contact names and numbers. At present the impact to customers in Harker Heights appears to be minimal. I will be monitoring the work progress which is estimated to take two months.
This project is also part of C.R.E.Z Competitive Renewable Enterprise Zone which is the State of Texas initiative to bring wind generated power from west Texas to our area via transmissions lines.
