Community Services Programs
- One of the major things which Community Services does is try to keep the Harker Heights Police Department involved in the activities of the community.
- We also work with the local businesses and keep them informed on the activities in the city, which are used to help the children and citizens of Harker Heights.
Bicycle Patrol
- Some of the concepts of the Bike Patrol.
- To put officers out into the community which were more accessible to answer citizens questions about the community.
- Used as an extra set of eyes and ears in keeping the Chief and the patrol officers informed about what is going on in the community.
- Also used to help Traffic and Patrol Sections
Helping the Community
- Community Services does free home security inspections which can save you on your home owners insurance.
- We take Surveys about the Police Department to help make it better.
- We help Neighborhoods set up Neighborhood Watch Programs in their area.
- We set up and run the Citizens Police Academy
- We are also in charge of the Citizens Volunteer Program
Some of the Classes Community Services Teach
- Each year we go out into the Elementary schools in Harker Heights and teach classes like:Stranger Danger and Bicycle Safety
- We also try to go to school functions to meet parents and tell them about the KIDDO Cards.
- We also teach home safety classes to groups and organizations, a class for the elderly and classes to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to help them with their Merit Badges.
Special Events
- We also help out at events like the Halloween Hoopla and the Annual Frost Fest. This gives us the opportunity to meet and talk with the citizens and provide all the parents a chance to get their child a KIDDO Card.
Community Services is here to help the citizens work better with the Police Department in order to make Harker Heights a Safe and Happy place to live.
