Locally adopted building codes and related ordinances are, when properly administered by competent persons, designed to protect persons and property by insuring structural integrity, fire protection, health and sanitation in the buildings within which persons work, live and play.

Administration / enforcement of codes is done through a system of construction plan review, permitting, and follow-up inspections of the work in progress.
